Chess Club

Our first Chess Club ran today under the guidance of Lance Ryan and David Rolph in our College Library. This will be happening every Monday in the lunch hour. Later in the year we will have an opportunity to play against other schools in the Huon and host other schools as well. Who doesn't love a game of chess?

Cygnet Football Club Visit

Last week we were grateful to have the Cygnet Football Club run an AFL clinic for our highschool students. Our students had a great time learning new skills and many are interested in signing up to play this year.

Year 2 and 5 NITA Education

Year 2 and Year 5 were very lucky to have Trish Hodge and Mathius Everett from NITA Education join their classes on Friday.

Year 2 were led through a session on the traditional customs of Ceremony. Trish read the story Ceremony by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing, the class watched a slideshow of local Aboriginal people in ceremony and finally chose something out of the story to complete a drawing. Whilst also incorporating traditional language.

Year 5 have been working on their own traditional acknowledgement of country with Mrs Synnott. Trish led the group and shared her own perspective on the importance of sharing an acknowledgement. This sparked lots of great ideas and questions from the group. Some students even had a turn at sharing their acknowledgement from the heart without a script.

We look forward to engaging with NITA Education in the 2025 school year.
