Thank you to the parents of the Year 10 students for entrusting St James Catholic College to educate your child. Your children have faced the challenges, worked hard and achieved their goals. Thank you also to the dedicated staff of the College. Your support and encouragement of the students on their learning journey is greatly appreciated.
A celebration of this calibre takes a lot of planning and hard work. Thank you to Fr Michael Tate Vicar General for celebrating Mass, Mrs Connie Thomas for preparing the Liturgy and Mr Wayne Neilson for planning the Music.

This week, the College held Orientation Day. This was a great opportunity for new students to come along and spend the day at the College meeting students and staff. We have many new students starting and they certainly will be a welcome addition to our College in 2018.

Lunchtime Activities
Learning to knit has been one of the lunchtime activities on offer to students in the Library.
With help from Mrs Carter and Mrs Thomas the students decided to try and knit as many squares as possible to turn them into a rug to donate to Huon Eldercare.
The four students (pictured with rug) finished a knitted square each, along with squares knitted by Miss Westwood’s Nan, Aunt and Mrs Thomas, with crochet squares by Mrs Carter and Mrs Du Bois. The squares were then crocheted together by Mrs Newbon to form the rug pictured. The rug is currently on display in the office and will be delivered to Huon Eldercare in time for Christmas.

Student Film Making Workshops 2018
The Cygnet Community Arts Council is seeking expressions of interest from students in grade 5-8 in 2018 who are interested in being part of an after-school film making project. Learn how to plan, make and edit a film using smart phones, digital cameras, free software and community resources, lead by an experienced teacher and industry professionals. Students would work towards making films to enter into the My State Student Film Festival. Contact Claire Byers for further information or to register your interest.
