St James Feast Day

We gathered as a College community to celebrate the Feast of St James. We commenced the day by joining with the Parish community for our Feast Day Mass where we celebrated the life of our Patron Saint. Every year on the Feast Day of St James, two students are presented with the Principal's Award. This Award recognises their significant contribution and commitment to the College and to our FLAMES values. Congratulations to Isla Direen (Year 5) and Jessica Drysdale (Year 9) on being the 2024 recipients of the Principal's Award. All students enjoyed a free sausage sizzle lunch to celebrate a significant day on our College calendar.

Year 7/8 Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery Excursion

On Wednesday the 24th of July. Year 8 and selected year 7 students attended the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) to explore the Return to Country exhibition. Students and staff were greeted by Nicola from the team of Tasmanian Aboriginal Learning facilitators at TMAG. Nicola unpacked what repatriation is and why it is important for stories to return home to Country. Students also explored the ningina tunapri exhibition and the Tasmanian earth and life section of the gallery. Students learnt about different stories and traditional objects such as the bark canoe. Nicola explained the importance of these objects and students finished the session by creating their very own special object out of clay.

Contact and communication during the school day

If you need to contact your child during school hours, please remember to use the office as the first point of contact. Likewise, please advise your child to see the office staff first for any issue and we will ensure that messages are passed on. This ensures that learning is not disrupted, that phones are 'off and away all day' and reduces any confusion about student whereabouts.

We greatly appreciate your support in using the office as the first point for communication with your child during the school day.

SMS Absence Notifications

The College accepts SMS absentee notifications. Please SMS: 0488 863 246 with your child's name, grade and absent reason. Please save this number in your phone for future reference.

Drink Bottles

Please make sure your child brings a drink bottle to school each day.

A gentle reminder to advise the school if your child's medical details have recently changed. Please contact the College office to ensure your childs details are current.

Move well, Eat Well.

Are you looking for some healthy ideas for your child's lunchbox? The Department of Health's Move Well Eat Well Program website highlights some great ideas for including healthy food options for your child's school lunchbox.

These suggestions also have the added advantage of often being low packaging, which assists to reduce the litter in our environment.

Please feel free to share any great ideas for lunchboxes with your child's teacher!
